Girls like boys who like boys. Apparently.

This has kind of been stressing me out a lot.

Because, you know, there was that article with Jeff saying that there was definitely hints at Stiles being bisexual, and that made me really really happy - but then there was also that part where he commented on the Derek/Stiles relationship, about him not knowing why ‘girls like boys who like boys’.

And I just don’t get it.

Because it’s not about that, at all.

Want to know who I ship on Teen Wolf? Derek and Stiles. Allison and Scott. Jackson and Lydia. (And I can feel the possibility of Erica and Boyd creeping up on me, they were adorable!)

Guess how many of those pairs are boy/boy? One.

After last week’s episode - after Allison was willing to put both Scott and his mother in death’s way, after siding with her grandfather and crossing so many lines of moral ambiguity - shipping Allison and Scott is crazy! But I do anyway, because they have that spark (something akin to fate, like Scott said) which keeps me hoping and wishing that they’ll figure a way to work things out and be together in the end.

After last season - after Jackson has literally killed people, (to death!), threatened Lydia, and has shown himself to be so incredibly emotionally unstable - shipping Jackson and Lydia is crazy. But I do anyway, because Holland and Colton are such insanely great dramatic actors that the height of emotion in Jackson and Lydia’s relationship is so, so, compelling. The tragedy of their love is so beautifully acted without being over the top that I can’t help but be invested in their relationship.

Derek and Stiles, though. Throughout the seasons, we’ve seen how they complement each other, how they push each other to be better. They have witty banter, they have great chemistry, they argue, they fight, and they have enough common ground and differences to make their relationship interesting.

Derek and Stiles are my OTP because after all that’s happened, Derek and Stiles being together is actually the only ship I ship that is not crazy. It’s the only pair of people that I can actually see coming together romantically in a reasonable, true-to-life way. (Erm, barring the whole werewolf thing, that is).

Yeah, Derek and Stiles might be my OTP. But that is not because they are both boys, it’s because they have the best chemistry.

Girls don’t ship Sterek because they’re two boys. Girls (and guys, mind you) ship Sterek because they’re the two characters with the best chemistry.

And for that, I am disappointed on behalf of all the fans. All the people who wrote pages and pages analyzing both Stiles’ and Derek’s characters. All the fans that put real thought and concern about any kind of possible relationship, and the problems that come with it, that Stiles and Derek might have with each other.

I remember reading pages and pages of analysis on just the introduction sequence, and how that sets up Stiles’ and Derek’s characters as complementary and not. I’ve read essays on the natural elements running throughout Teen Wolf, and what that means for Derek and Stiles’ relationship. I’ve read interesting theories about how visually, Derek and Stiles are set up as opposites and parallels, and how the first time the Teen Wolf fandom is ever introduced to Derek Hale is through Stiles Stilinski. I’ve read concerns and questions about both Derek’s and Stiles’ pasts and families. What Derek’s concerns about Kate might mean for a future relationship with anyone. What Stiles’ own thoughts about himself say about whether he can be his own person and keep his own identity in a relationship.

And the all the art and fiction that explores these problems, that work through these problems in a realistic, funny, (sometimes fluffy, sometimes sexy) way. That’s what we all want to see! That’s what anyone wants to see in a relationship between two people - let us see them grow, develop, have problems, make mistakes, learn from them, love, laugh, fight, bicker…. everything and anything that every relationship consists of.

If you take even just a few minutes to go through what fans have had to say about Derek and Stiles, you’ll see why I’m so disappointed that apparently it’s been decided that we like Sterek because they’re boys liking boys.

Because it’s so much more than that.

liar.

here is stiles lying again so he can ease the tension of the situation. because stiles stilinski most definitely has a high tolerance for pain. and i’m not even just talking about all the physical pain he has to put up with, running with these werewolves. but the emotional pain as well, of losing his mom, lying to his dad, etc.

so yeah. stiles most definitely is looking more and more cunning and sly and less like the comic relief as i’m going through more his dialogue/action in this series.

why i want bisexual stiles (in 4,000 words or less)

gyzym:

Right, so, standard disclaimer (and especially for this post, oh man): hi, I’m gyzym, this post is full of my opinions on stuff! They’re just my opinions on stuff; it’s okay if they’re not your opinions on stuff, and I don’t expect them to be your opinions on stuff. I write a blog on the internet about my thoughts and feelings, from a place of personal bias, and do not claim to be doing anything else. So when I say things, below, like, “we should or should not do whatever,” I mean that I, personally, think that we should or should not do whatever. I don’t mean that WE MUST DO OR NOT DO WHATEVER or that EVERYONE MUST AGREE WITH ME or that DISAGREEING WITH ME IS WRONG. At all! If you read this post and agree with me, sweet; if you read this post and disagree with me, sweet; if you read this post and don’t know what I’m talking about, or don’t feel like you’ve got enough information to agree or disagree with me, I hugely encourage you to take some of the words I am using and stick them into google and inform yourself, whether you use that information to agree/disagree with me or not! Honestly, I care a lot more about people googling stuff than I do about people agreeing with me. Like, a lot more. A whole lot more.

With that established: let’s talk about Stiles, and bisexuality, and the possibility (however likely or unlikely you think it may be) of canonically bisexual Stiles.

Thought I should do something for Sterek week.
This is an AU happy!playlist (because there has been too much death and destruction in TW lately), where Stiles is in his third year of college where Derek is a grad student. The songs in the playlist are meant to represent the stages of their relationship.
“Who Are You Really” is when Derek tells Stiles about werewolves/his family.
“Boyfriend” is when Stiles asks Derek to be his boyfriend.
And I’m sure you can figure out the rest using the lyrics ;)

This?
This is who Stiles really is.
Not the snarking, not the spazzing, not the flailing.
Well, not just that.
What he really is… is this incredible thinker, this incredible planner, a tactician that you goddamn well need on your pack team if you have any intention of winning.
He’s perceptive in the extreme, canny as a canny thing, and arguably more intelligent, in real-world situations, than Lydia the genius is. Lydia couldn’t figure out what supernatural hell was breaking loose all around (and within) her, despite being given all the clues - but Stiles? Not only worked out what was up with Scott almost instantaneously, but also figured out what to do about it. Again, almost instantaneously.
And it’s not just because Scott’s his best friend. Jackson is Danny’s best friend, but Danny has thus far managed to stay willfully ignorant of the weird shit going down in Jackson’s life and in the entire town. I mean, I love Danny, but seriously, dude? The guy you grow up with is turning into a GIANT MUTANT LIZARD. That kills people. And you haven’t noticed anything? And Lydia, sweetheart, the guy you’ve been in love with and that you’ve dated is turning into a giant lizard, and you haven’t noticed anything?
Stiles isn’t oblivious. About anything.
He keeps his eyes open. More importantly, he keeps his mind open.
He does his research. He covers his bases. He thinks.
He figures it all out.
He has the deepest focus and strongest will of anyone on the show.
That’s why Deaton gives him that job, the job of willing the dust to work.
Stiles is the only one with that insurmountable will.
And that will is what we see, in this picture, coupled with his intelligence.
That’s who he is.
That’s why Peter wanted him so desperately.
That’s why Peter respected him enough to offer the bite.
And when a guy like Peter respects someone? You’d better believe there’s something worth respecting.
I’m just waiting for everyone else to clue in and realize what an asset Stiles is - especially Derek - but one of the things that makes Stiles so effective, as a tactical wildcard, is the fact that so few people know how important he is.
Sometimes, I even find myself thinking that he’s planned it that way.
When an opposing pack (or a hunter) targets Derek and Scott, they’ll take out those people that they see as posing the greatest threat. Stiles is the sort of person most of them would ignore - this dorky little kid in a plaid shirt, uncoordinated and awkward, overly fond of junk food and unattainable girls. Just your average Joe, right?
Wrong.
Stiles keeps the people he loves safe, in part by appearing to be innocuous. He’s the stealth security system. The hidden booby-trap. The silent tripwire. The quiet landmine. (I’m running out of metaphors, here.)
He’s the threat you don’t take into account, when you go after Derek’s pack.
You can plan for Scott, for Boyd and Isaac and Erica. You can even fight them, in the sort of conventional warfare that they’re capable of. (And that’s all they’re capable of. Being conventional.)
Stiles, though? Is anything but conventional.
He’ll make fucking Molotovs in a school lab. He’ll bribe a hacker with the shirtlessness of a hot cousin. He’ll find out how to categorize you and how to take you down. He’ll research the hell out of you. He’ll have contingency plans. He’ll sneak into police stations. He’ll collude with ex-cons. He’ll make sure that people are where they need to be.
And all the while, you’ll be aiming for the more obvious threats, the ones with fangs and fur and claws.
And that’s why you won’t be able to get to the more obvious threats. Because, while you’re focused on them, Stiles will be focused on you.
You’ll never know what hit you.
And, ironically enough, neither will they.
The people Stiles saved.
That’s who Stiles is. Stealth-Ninja of Awesome.
He does the work, but doesn’t get the credit for it, because he doesn’t set out to get credit for it. Not only because he’s selfless (which he is), but because he’s clever. He knows it’s better to stay under the radar. You can’t nuke a goddamn submarine if you don’t know where it is.
Stiles for the win, people. Stiles for the win.

Good point about Peter! But it also makes me think that asking him first wasn’t even just about respect - Peter knew that if he gave Stiles the kind of power that being a werewolf would offer? Well. Coupled with his intelligence, Peter knew he better make damn sure Stiles was on his good side before he gave him that bite.
I also think there are important reasons why Lydia and Danny don’t realize the things they do about what’s going on, but for the most part, THIS POST IS FULL OF SO MUCH WIN. And that picture, god. There is no trace of Stiles’ humor. It’s so calculating and sharp (while being without fear) and I wonder how good of an actor Stiles must be to hide that part of him so much, especially since everyone thinks his face is so “expressive”. Like you’d just assume that all of his expressions are totally genuine and real… but they’re actually controlled. It gives me chills.

Is there a gifset yet of the parallels between the Sterek pool scene (“You don’t trust me, I don’t trust you”) and this episode’s advice from Dr. Deaton (“You’re not trusting the one person you should”)?

Stiles: No one is here.
Scott: Maybe it’s just early.

STILES. You are so fucking goddamn nice! You relentlessly pursue a case to help a teacher that has been a total jackass to you (“He hates me, I don’t hate him”), and now you’re helping a girl that has ignored you for ten years. You are literally the most selfless person… and then you go and have that hallucination and break my heart completely.
